SABMiller to Acquire Stake in Topvar
The New York Times reports (9 May 2005) from Bratislva, Slovakia that London-based SABMiller PLC, one of the world's largest brewers, said it has signed a deal to acquire a bigger stake in Slovak brewery Topvar as part of efforts to strengthen its position in central Europe. Youth Alcohol Consumption up in Slovakia
The Slovak Spectator reported in November 2004 that Slovak authorities have registered moderate growth of alcohol consumption among young people between the ages of 11 and 23. The results of the last survey showed that the number of girls and boys who drink alcohol has increased. Slovakia’s boys are in sixth place and girls in fifth place among young alcohol consumers in Europe. However, the number of drug addicts has fallen in Slovakia. Find the full story here.
